Artist Statment
“
I’m Andrea Lombardi (they/them), born in Milan and now based in the Netherlands.
My work explores the societal restrictions that shape our identities, questioning why such structures are necessary.
My practice began with photography and video before expanding into performance and installation.
Over time, it has evolved through observing and studying human interactions and how people navigate contemporary reality.
As a trans artist, I integrate my personal perspective, particularly how I experience and engage with today’s society.
Through my work, I challenge binary views of gender, inviting people to reflect and rethink rigid ideologies.
Using photography and movement, I explore and express the fluidity of bodies and identities.
